On Tuesday, May 24, 2016 Saturday Night Live stars and Staten Island natives Pete Davidson and Colin Jost helped raise $100,000 for the Answer the Call: NY Police & Fire Widows’ & Children’s Benefit Fund at “The Red & Blue Soiree” event at the Bowery Hotel. Other supporters of the event included New York Rangers legend Mark Messier, supermodel Emily DiDonato, New York Red Bulls captain Dax McCarty and goalie Ryan Meara, actor Vincent Piazza of Boardwalk Empire and Jersey Boys fame, and style expert Mary Alice Stephenson.

The New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides financial assistance and a network of support to families of New York City Police Officers, Firefighters, Port Authority Police, and EMS Personnel who have been killed in the line of duty. This wonderful organization provides support to over 600 families of fallen heroes.

Pete Davidson personally thanked the organization for helping his family after his father, an FDNY firefighter, tragically died in the September 11th terrorist attacks. Pete was only seven at the time.

Colin Jost also has a personal connection to the fund in that his mother serves as chief medical officer for the FDNY.
